Creating a pro-business climate that fosters growth, attracts new businesses and encourages the expansion of existing business is critical to the quality of life enjoyed in Greater Omaha. The Chamber’s Public Policy team participates in the political and legislative process.

At the federal, state and local level our public policy staff advocates to protect, support and improve the business environment through:

  • Development of public policy and strategy that creates a competitive business climate
  • Pursuit of legislation, incentives and regulations that enhance economic growth in Greater Omaha and throughout the state
  • Promotion of a shared vision to improve the business climate statewide
  • Recruitment and support of pro-business candidates at the state and local levels
  • Notification of member companies about legislation impacting their businesses
  • Organization and facilitation of meetings and events with federal, state and local officials and business leaders to create a dialogue about issues affecting Chamber members
  • Coordination of the Chamber's Agricultural Council and Transportation Council

During state legislative sessions, the Public Policy team maintains a list of bills being considered by the Unicameral of particular interest to business.

Dacia Kruse, director of public policy and state issues, (402) 978-7938, is a registered lobbyist for the Chamber. Tim Stuart is the manager of transportation development and policy research, (402) 474-4960.
